Basses

Solo Eb Bass: John Sudworth

Started playing: I started playing at St. Peters Primary School, Bryn, when I came under the influence of the music teacher, John Don Duncan, who conducted Trinity Girls Junior Band and played trombone at Wingates, who at that time were one of the best bands in the country. I played for the girls band for a couple of years amongst 25 females and no, I didn't have to wear a skirt.

Previous bands: Trinity Girls Juniors, North Ashton, Pemberton

Memorable Banding moments: Performing in the National Finals at the Royal Albert Hall in 2000 and at Birmingham Symphony Hall in 1998, Performing at Powerball 2000 at the Grosvenor House Hotel in 2000 for a Charity Function. Almost forgot, meeting my wife the first time I played for Old Hall Brass, and she didn’t really like me at the time………………nothings changed!!!!!

Favourite piece: Laudate Dominum (the ending is truly spiritual!!), Resurgam.

More about: Work for a Contract Research Organisation as a Senior Analytical Scientist, Band Chairman, Officer in 1st Bryn Boys’ Brigade, Wigan Rugby league Fan.

Eb Bass: Vacant

Bb Bass: Eric stott

Started playing: Eric started playing a long time ago, when 10 shillings would buy a week's papers, 100 Woodbines, all the boy's comics and still have change for sweets.  Harry Mortimer conducted the Co-Op Band, and Cyril Smith was slim!
